The Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter and songwriter, Tems, has rightfully claimed her spot on the Times 100 Next List. In the past year, Tems’ has graced magazines and stages well-deservedly.
This curated list by Time Magazine spotlights the new generation of movers and shakers of multiple industries ranging from music, business, politics, sports and entertainment to science, health and activism.
Her vibrance and talent caught the eye of Grammy award-winning and Oscar-nominated artist Mary J. Blige, who witnessed the beauty that Tems holds in and out. She told the Times magazine;
“Tems is in a class all by herself because no other artist sounds like her. That voice is so unique and original, so much so that it reminds me of the first time I heard Nina Simone.”
We agree with the iconic Mary J. Blige when she says Tems has the chance to become one of the most significant artists of her time. From her interview with Kendrick Lamar, Tems is already on that journey.
Alongside Tems, Dr Toyin Ajayi, the CEO and co-founder of City Block Health, also an advocate for accessible healthcare, received an honourable mention in the Times Magazine 100 Next List.
In his note to the Times Magazine, Kenneth Frazier applauds Dr. Ajayi’s efforts in creating affordable access to high-quality healthcare.
“No one is better suited than this dedicated family physician turned health care activist and entrepreneur to transform our broken health care system into one that understands and serves all patients, bringing new meaning to the phrase ‘The doctor will see you now.’”
Congratulations to Dr Ajayi and Tems on this affirming marker on their journey in their respective industries.
