I Do Not Come To You By Chance bags TIFF nomination

The film adaptation of Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani’s award-winning 2009 novel, I Do Not Come To You By Chance, has been nominated by the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) for its People’s Choice Awards.

I Do Not Come To You By Chance is an enthralling production that details the story of a young man saddled with the responsibility of becoming the family’s breadwinner and the lengths he would reach to redeem himself and his family from the shackles of poverty. Produced by the vivacious Genevieve Nnaji alongside Chinny Carter, the film was showcased among the 47 selected film titles at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The film features Nollywood’s Blossom Chukwujekwu and the new star on the block, Ijapari Ben-Hirki. She stunned the TIFF red carpet along with co-star Beverly Osu, film director Ishaya Bako and executive producer Genevieve Nnaji.

After Genevieve’s five-year hiatus, this production debut is projected to be a hit for Nollywood in the coming months. With this nomination at the start of the film’s journey, a successful year-long run is bound to occur, even one as good as Genenvieve’s Lionheart, which bagged an Oscar Nomination in 2020.

As the events unfold, we’ll keep you in the loop.
