Tems becomes first Nigerian female artist to hit 1 billion solo streams on Spotify

Singer, songwriter, and Grammy-winning artist Tems has hit one billion solo streams on Spotify and become the first Nigerian female artist to do so. The skilled singer achieved this milestone across all her credits on the worldwide streaming platform, cementing her status as an international superstar.

The music data account “Unorthodox Reviews” tweeted about this significant career milestone, stating that Tems hit one billion streams on Spotify as a solo artist. Tems had previously surpassed the one billion streams mark on Spotify with accumulated streams on solo and featured songs, a feat she attained in November 2023.

Contributing to Tems’ spectacular numbers are “Wait For You” featuring Drake with over 855 million streams, “Essence” featuring Wizkid with 255 million streams, “Free Mind” with 170 million streams, “Higher” with 147 million streams, and “Me & U” with 122 million streams.

Tems joins the growing number of Nigerian musicians, including Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy, who have reached this achievement on the global streaming platform with solo songs, which is pretty thrilling!
