On Sunday, 2 March, the 97th Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), celebrated the absolute best movies at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The 2025 Oscars saw the presentation of 23 coveted awards honouring outstanding achievements in films released in 2024.

Going into the award ceremony, “Emilia Pérez” led with 13 nominations, followed by “The Brutalist” and “Wicked” with 10 each. However, the night ended with “Anora” scooping up the most honours, and making history several times.
