5 top spots to visit this weekend in Lagos (Island Edition)

Work hard but play harder is supposed to be the mantra of all my 9 -5 remote & onsite workers.

The thing is for all my homebodies, they will come a time in your life that you will definitely regret not exploring & being adventurous. It is better to be a retired adventurer than one that refuses to broaden your mind by exploring exciting experiences.

Enough with the long talk, if you’re looking to have the best hangout alone with friends in a chill spot in Lagos, this article is for you.

According to Trip Advisor in no particular order, the top spots are:

Lekki Conservation Center:

Established 33 years ago, by the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF). Its primary use was to serve as a biodiversity conservation site and an environmental education center. Covering over 190 acres of land, it houses a variety of wildlife, a 401-metre-long canopy walkway (longest in Africa) suspended 22.5 feet, a fish pond, a treehouse, and life-sized outdoor board games.

If you suffer from Acrophobia (an intense fear of heights) then let it be known that I warned you (I wish someone did the same for me) don’t go on the canopy walk! And the Treehouse. You can do everything else TBH.

There’s food (a bit pricey), side attractions, a lot of greeny if a picnic is what you planned. Least I forget, be wary of the pesky monkeys who can misbehave at the slightest.

Nike Centre For Art And Culture:

Established 40 years ago, the Nike Art gallery, established by celebrated Nigerian artist, Nike Davies, is one of the largest of its kind in West Africa. It boasts a collection of about 8,000 exquisitely created artwork, sculptures, beading work, and textiles housed in four floors. If you’re a lover of art, you will feel right at home.  The great thing is that most, if not all, the pieces & sculptures are for sale, although entry is free.

Sencillo Lagos:

Tucked away in a serene beachfront west of Ilashe,  the Sencillo Beach House is one of the more luxurious private beach houses on the island, with minimalist architecture and a serene and relaxing vibe. Getting to this beach house is a bit dicey as it’s only accessible by water. You’ll have to charter a boat from Tarkwa Bay that takes you directly to the beach house. With sleeping quarters, a pool, a Jacuzzi and a large fire pit, a weekend spent here promises to leave lasting memories of luxury & pleasure.

Lakowe Lakes Golf & country estate:

A private community with a resort, golf course, cottages, spa and residential houses. It’s perfect for a romantic getaway, family bonding event & even for sports lovers – golf enthusiasts, pedal boating lovers and table tennis players. Lakowe is the dream for the introvert who wants to try out a lot of things at the same place.

If nature & long walks or runs are top of your mind, then this is a choice you’re going to love.

Upbeat recreation center:

Just like the name implies, this is a recreational center in Lekki geared towards maximum fun for people of all ages. The facility includes a basketball court, foam pit, football court, trampolines and so much more. Don’t worry, if you’re looking for a sugar rush for some energy boost, Hans & Rene located on the upbeat center premises is up to the challenge, providing different ice cream flavors et more.

The best part about every single one of these places, is that you can go solo, no friends or paramours needed. So where are you checking out this weekend?
