2024 Emmy fashion: Our take on the red carpet looks

The 2024 Emmy Awards red carpet gave us some serious fashion moments, but not everyone hit the mark. From bold choices to playing it a bit too safe, here’s my take on the hits, the misses, and everything in between.

While the vibrant colours were fun, the overall look was a bit of a snooze fest. The simple heels and matching accessories didn’t add much excitement, and the everyday hairstyle didn’t help. A dash of pizzazz in the dress and hair would have truly spiced things up!

Aja looked stunning in her soft pink gown, bringing major Black Barbie vibes. I would’ve liked to see her pair it with an updo or a sleeker hairstyle, letting the dress truly shine and giving the overall look a bit more edge.

She looked stunning in her textured gown, and the sharp neckline was a perfect touch. I loved the dress and her sleek hair, but the matching colour palette for the dress, makeup, and overall look felt a bit too safe. A pop of colour or a bold accessory would have added that X-factor that we all love about the “Abbott Elementary” star!

Neon is tricky, but Da’Vine nailed it in her body-con dress. However, I feel a more structured silhouette or added layers would’ve given this look more sophistication. It was bold in colour, but the shape needed a bit more punch.

Slayed in black, as she always does, but I would’ve loved to see her in something with a bit more sparkle or daring detail to match her powerful presence. With her regal vibe, a little added drama or embellishment could have taken this look from classic to unforgettable!

Selena Gomez in Ralph Lauren Collection

Selena looked beautiful, but this felt like her standard red carpet vibe—sleek, simple, and very her. I wish she’d gone for something outside her usual style, maybe a colour or texture that would surprise us. She’s a style icon, but she needs to give us more wow!

Meryl Streep in Alexander McQueen

She looked fabulous in her oversized pink suit. The playful colour and relaxed fit exuded confidence and charm. She truly owned the look, proving that even a bold, oversized outfit can be stunning with the right attitude!

Anna’s red silk gown was a showstopper, but it felt like something was missing. A bold necklace or standout earrings would’ve elevated the look and made it feel more complete for such a dramatic ensemble.

Tyler James Williams in Dolce & Gabbana

He nailed his look with a sleek, effortless style. The all-black ensemble and striking details were on point, making him one of the night’s best looks. No complaints here—he looked absolutely fantastic!

Jennifer Aniston in Oscar de la Renta

Jennifer was glowing, but this silver dress was a little too predictable for her. She looks amazing, but it’s the same old look. I’d love to see her in a bold, unexpected colour—something to shake up her usual vibe.

The Emmys are not just a celebration of artistic integrity through television shows; they have now become a fashion show. As with every year, we’ll keep celebrating our favourite outfits while playing a bit of Joan Rivers on the sideline. Do you agree with us?
