So.Me Solutions and Chika Uwazie host The Design Table, bridging Lagos, the diaspora, and the future of African fashion

The Design Table event celebrates the future of African fashion

The Design Table, a first-of-its-kind gathering co-created by So.Me Solutions and Chika Uwazie,  came to life on Saturday, 1 November 2025, in Lagos. Timed perfectly with Lagos Fashion Week, the midday experience brought together an exceptional mix of designers, diaspora voices, editors, and cultural tastemakers. Each one represented a vital thread in the evolving story of African fashion.

Thoughtfully curated, The Design Table was envisioned as a warm Lagos welcome for visiting creatives and a space for meaningful exchange within the city’s vibrant fashion ecosystem. It was about intention, collaboration and bridging global perspectives with local creativity.

As sunlight streamed through The Art Hotel’s minimalist interiors, guests gathered around long tables — laughing, sharing and building connections over elevated bites. Every moment felt organic and alive, as fashion and dialogue seamlessly intertwined.

At the heart of it all were Lagos’ most compelling designers, whose artistry transformed the room into a living exhibition of craftsmanship and storytelling. Gelalli brought her signature harmony of structure and softness to Amiraa, Tenicka and Cyn Koko.  On the other hand,  Mai Atafo and Lanre Da Silva Ajayi added the unmistakable touch of Lagos luxury which continues to set Nigerian design apart on the global stage.

The guest list reflected what truly made The Design Table special, its intersectionality. Around one table sat media editors, stylists, entrepreneurs, designers, and digital creators — each contributing to the larger narrative of African fashion. Among them were representatives from Business of Fashion, Essence, Marie Claire Nigeria, The Guardian Life, Guzangs, and Style Vitae, turning the afternoon into a cross-cultural conversation — a true meeting of minds and aesthetics.

Adding to the thoughtful details that defined the event, Beauty Hut Africa curated “Lagos Starter Kits”, a collection of luxury essentials that became an instant hit among guests. Each box captured the spirit of Lagos: dynamic, intentional, and beautifully generous. Uncover also added its mark with refreshing skincare treats, a nod to the self-care that underpins true style.

From Inverroche’s crisp cocktails and their amazing party starter kit to the spontaneous laughter that filled the air, every element reflected what The Design Table set out to do — connect, inspire and feed the future of African fashion.

By the close of the afternoon, one truth lingered: this wasn’t just a networking event; it was proof that when creativity meets collaboration, it results in culture.

With The Design Table, So.Me Solutions and Chika Uwazie have created an experience that feeds the future of African fashion. A space where ideas meet influence, and connection gives birth to something lasting.
