Moments from the 2023 Met Gala we won’t forget so soon

Named “Fashion’s Biggest Night”, The Met Gala has never disappointed. Per usual, the 2023 Met Gala was a sight to behold, with celebrities, designers, and socialites gathering together in tribute to late designer Karl Lagerfeld and spotlight his fashion brilliance and evolution with the theme “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty”

This year’s event was hosted by Penélope Cruz, Michaela Coel, Roger Federer and Dua Lipa. The guest list included some of the biggest names in fashion and entertainment around the world including Nigerian Grammy winner and Oscar nominated artist, Tems.

The first Monday in May left us all living in the moment of witnessing fashion at its finest and most creative form. One of the most striking things about the gala was the versatility that went into reimagining the designer made by attendees. From panniers and vintage runway steals, to body painting and mascots, the Met Gala red carpet was filled with worthy moments of fashion.

Beyond the fashion, which we absolutely live for, the 2023 Met Gala also witnessed a number of funny, somewhat random and unexplainable events.

Below, seven memorable (and random) moments from this year’s gala:

Miuccia Prada in Billionaire Core

If quiet luxury was a moment, it’ll be the one where Miuccia strolled through the carpet almost incognito in a simple yellow and green pair of pants and blouse. So random because it is quite unusual to see anyone not dressed to a T at the Met Gala. Miuccia seemed to have just gone there to show some love.

Teyana Taylor’s Bunny Hop

At first, it looked like Jeremy Pope’s cape with Karl’s face was the center of attraction but to the right, someone in a shimmery long gown is hopping up the stairs without care. Yes, that was Teyanna Taylor in heels. Shout out to those quad muscles. We also hear she snuck in some fast food into the gala, nothing comes between a woman and her food!

Doja CAT, literally

Emma: “Okay, so tell me all about this.”

Doja: “Meow”

Emma: “I mean, who…who made it?”

Doja: “Meow”

Emma: “Wow, okay, so something a little different. So what was your inspiration for tonight? Be honest with me and go into detail.”

Doja: “Meow. Meow. Meow.”

ASAP jumping the crowd

He could have passed anywhere else. He really could. But no, he scuffled his way through the crowd and jumped right over the barricade. At first, nobody noticed but then he took his hood off and revealed himself “like Hannah Montana” (someone said on TikTok) and the crowd went wild. Talk about making an entrance!

The Roach’s Close Up

Cockroaches are very random creatures. They disappear like you were hallucinating. One minute, they’re somewhere and the next minute, they’re on the Met Gala carpet. I just hope Kevin got good photos, whoever was shouting for him to do so, was at the top of their voice.

Such a Mom Thing to Do

If Lala Anthony could see the comments on the Vogue livestream, she probably would have burst out laughing. While interviews on the carpet were going on, Kathy Hilton was on the livestream to leave the comment, “Paris is in the car on the way.”  It was Paris Hilton’s first ever Met gala so we can see why her mom was excited.

Fake Walk Pose

We all do  the fake walk pose right? I know I do and so does Cardi B. She always reminds us that she’s a celebrity who is still just an ordinary girl. After posing for multiple photos on the Met Gala carpet, Cardi went back and said “take a picture of me fake-walking”. Of course, she killed the fake walk pose!
