Inside Africa’s first Lux Afrique Jewellery, Watch & Home Expo, redefining the continent’s luxury landscape

The Lux Afrique Jewellery, Watch & Home Expo made history in Lagos by hosting a weekend filled with African luxury, innovation, and heritage.

The continent’s first luxury expo set a bold new standard for global prestige and African excellence. From September 13 to 14, 2025, history was made in Lagos as the first-ever Lux Afrique Jewellery, Watch & Home (LAJWH) Expo took place. The event was curated by luxury entrepreneur Alexander Amosu and hosted at Centre Point, Ikoyi. The landmark event brought together global luxury houses and Africa’s finest brands in a groundbreaking celebration of artistry, heritage, and elevated living.

The Expo commenced on Friday, 12 September 2025,  with an intimate welcome drinks reception, setting an elegant tone for the days ahead. Guests gathered not merely to raise glasses, but to mark the beginning of a new chapter, one where Africa is no longer a spectator in the luxury world, but a central author of its narrative.

“The Sessions”, moderated by Denise Eseimokumoh, Acting Editor of Marie Claire Nigeria, unveiled a dynamic program of discussions.

Other highlights from the event included:

“Unlocking Africa: The Next Billion-Dollar Market for Luxury” with Anna

Koury, Hodan Ibrahim, Alexander Amosu, Jeremy Taylor, and Tate Torongo

“Gateway to the World’s Best Schools & Universities”, led by Debbie Gispan

“Luxury Reimagined: The Future of Retail in Nigeria” with Ewaen Sorae,

Derrick Chike Memeh, and Chief Victor Okolie.

At the expo, workshops like “Collecting African Art: Heritage, Identity”, “Power & Expression” with Neil Coventry of Bonhams Auctioneers made a big impact. Similarly, “Uncorking: The Basics”, a wine-tasting masterclass led by Sommelier Aderonke Bamgbade, was also a hit.

Furthermore, one of the most impactful sessions was the panel “Made in Africa: Crafting Global Luxury in the Local Soul”, with Richie Shittu, Toks Aruoture, and Kunbi Uzochukwu. The conversation explored authenticity, artistry, and the urgent need for infrastructure and investment.. As Kunbi Uzochukwu reflected, “Luxury to me is in the finer details, the little things that often go overlooked.” Toks Aruoture added, “Remaining authentic to who I am has always been my power. When we design with truth, our work transcends borders.”

The Expo floor itself dazzled with showcases from Clive Christian, Omavicci, Pantheon, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Johannesburg and others. Guests also witnessed a grand auction featuring rare and coveted pieces from Hermès, Rolex, Cartier, and more, reinforcing the Expo’s position as a platform where heritage and aspiration converge.

A weekend of elegance: from gala to after-party

The celebration reached new heights with a lavish gala dinner on Saturday, 13 September 2025. It brought together VIPs, collectors, and tastemakers for an evening of fine dining, live entertainment, and exclusive showcases. The Gala not only celebrated the day’s achievements but also set the stage for deeper connections within Africa’s luxury ecosystem. The festivities continued on Sunday, September 14, as the Expo drew to a close with a vibrant after-party. Guests ended the weekend in high spirits, sealing the event with a mood of optimism, celebration, and anticipation for what the next chapter of African luxury will hold.

For Alexander Amosu, the Expo is the dawn of a new chapter:“Africa has always been rich in culture, craftsmanship, and creativity. The LAJWH Expo was curated to showcase this richness, to connect Africa to the global stage, and to reimagine what luxury means through an African lens.”
