The Leading Vibe Initiative launching in Lagos, Nigeria, will mark the beginning of a continent-wide movement to elevate African women in music
Hennessy is proud to collaborate with two-time Grammy award-winning artist and global icon, Tems, to launch the Leading Vibe Initiative (LVI) in Lagos, Nigeria. Taking place on the 8 and 9 of August, this two-day event marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in Hennessy’s enduring commitment to music and culture across Africa.
Inspired by Tems’ own groundbreaking journey in the music industry, the Leading Vibe Initiative is designed to empower the next generation of female artists, producers, songwriters, and music professionals. Its mission is to drive greater representation across all areas of the music industry — on the continent and beyond.
With Hennessy as the lead partner, the initiative launches with an immersive experience in Tems’s hometown of Lagos. The event features a series of curated workshops, networking opportunities, and panel discussions, led by top talent from both the African and global music scenes.

Tems x Hennessy: Powering the next generation of female African artists
Tems rose to global acclaim through a series of breakout moments that highlighted her unique sound and commanding voice. Her 2024 debut album, “Born in the Wild”, solidified her status as one of the most innovative and influential artists of her generation. With a single from the album “Love Me Jeje,” she earned her second Grammy win. Tems said,
“I’m excited to partner with Hennessy in bringing this initiative to life, supporting talented young women in music as they find their voices, embrace their power, and shape the future of the industry across Africa and beyond”
Hennessy’s collaboration with Tems builds on the brand’s longstanding commitment to music and artistic expression, both globally and across Africa. From Hip-hop to Afrobeats, Hennessy has consistently supported the artists and communities that drive cultural evolution. In Africa, the Maison has furthered its impact through initiatives such as “In the Paint” and now, with the “Leading Vibe Initiative.” Hennessy is taking a dedicated step towards amplifying women’s voices in the music industry. Vincent Montalescot, Hennessy Global Chief Marketing Officer, noted,
“Her vision, talent, and purpose align deeply with Hennessy’s legacy of championing those who push boundaries and redefine the world around them. We’re honoured to support the Leading Vibe Initiative and to continue empowering African communities and cultures”
The launch in Lagos marks a powerful beginning. As the “Leading Vibe Initiative” expands across Africa and onto the global stage, it aims to create a cross-continental network of empowered women shaping the future of African music.
