Fashion goes wild at Milan Fashion Week SS25

Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2025 was nothing short of a fashion fever dream, and I’m still catching my breath. It was my best Fashion Week so far—every show outdid the next, giving us unforgettable settings, wild concepts, and seriously crave-worthy pieces. Let’s break down the highlights because, trust me, these moments are worth revisiting!

Diesel: Denim redefined

The urban fashion brand stayed true to its roots, with denim dominating the runway in the most unexpected ways. The setting? A massive industrial space piled high with over 15 tons of denim scraps, which will be repurposed and transformed into new materials, a striking nod to both the excess and potential waste in fashion. The creative director, Glenn Martens, presented looks ranging from edgy clubwear to sophisticated outerwear. The post-apocalyptic vibe was undeniable with the shocking eyes and occasional sun shades, but what really stands out to me is how Diesel continues to reinvent denim without losing its essence—constantly proving that denim has a place in a sustainable future.

Gucci: Tailored elegance meets rebellion

Gucci’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection was a masterclass in blending casual elegance with a rebellious streak. Sabato de Sarno, the designer behind this captivating collection, explored themes of tailoring, luxurious lingerie-inspired pieces, and striking leather garments. The iconic Gucci red, deep greens, and hints of citrus made the colours pop, while classic 60s silhouettes added a retro feel. Gucci managed to weave heritage and modernity seamlessly, creating looks that felt timeless yet thoroughly modern.

Prada: The perfect clash of eras

A celebration of fashion’s ability to transcend time. Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons delivered a lineup that merged retro styles with futuristic details, resulting in a beautiful clash of old and new. Models wore everything from structured 1950s brassieres to metallic sci-fi-inspired pieces, alongside minimalist knitwear from the 90s. This unexpected mix of eras gave the show a unique energy, showing how Prada’s creative vision continues to challenge the boundaries of fashion.

Ferragamo: Balletcore with a Caribbean twist

For Ferragamo, Maximilian Davis dove into the brand’s ballet-inspired history while adding vibrant Caribbean influences. The collection featured light, airy layers and dramatic silhouettes that moved beautifully with the models. Fringes and twisted cotton designs gave each piece a sense of fluidity, while the elegance of the collection was rooted in Davis’ ability to combine history with a fresh, modern touch. This was balletcore with a bold, joyful edge.

Marni: A playful fashion fantasy

Unleashing a burst of creativity and colour, Francesco Risso’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection for Marni felt like stepping into a dream. Dresses adorned with whimsical appliques and vibrant prints created a childlike sense of wonder. Hats folded in imaginative shapes and crayon-coloured outfits added to the playful aesthetic, making Marni’s collection one of the most delightfully unique shows of the season.

Fendi: The roaring 20’s reimagined

Glamour and nostalgia filled the Fendi runway with a collection inspired by the roaring twenties. Designer Kim Jones revisited the carefree, decadent spirit of the era, translating it into modern silhouettes. Flowing flapper dresses and soft, romantic layers ruled the runway, providing a luxurious yet wearable collection. The subtle nod to the past, while keeping things fresh and modern, was pure Fendi magic.

Missoni: Embracing chaos with style

Missoni’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection was a riot of colour and pattern, expertly balancing chaos and order. Bold primary colours clashed beautifully with the brand’s iconic zigzag patterns, creating a futuristic tribal aesthetic that felt both chaotic and structured. The show pushed the boundaries of design with its playful mix of shapes and textures, proving once again that Missoni knows how to make a statement.

Versace: A party in full swing

The show took place in the courtyard of Milan’s historic Castle Sforzesco, setting the stage for a lively, eclectic collection. Donatella Versace leaned into bold prints and vibrant colours, giving us everything from psychedelic dresses to floral chainmail skirts. The energy of the show was infectious, with models strutting down the runway to classical music reimagined for the 21st century. This was party girl chic at its finest, blending playful elements with high fashion.

Etro: Bohemian extravagance

The Etro’s Spring/Summer 2025 show was a visual feast of rich textures and vibrant prints. Bohemian at its core, the collection embraced a maximalist philosophy with layers of paisley, lace, and crochet, all paired with piles of bold accessories. The live soundtrack added to the dramatic atmosphere as models paraded down the runway in a celebration of Etro’s signature eclecticism. It was a testament to the house’s dedication to luxurious, free-spirited fashion.

Del Core: Nature meets the future

Daniel Del Core delivered a stunning collection that felt like a beautiful fusion of nature and futuristic design. From flowing lace paired with sleek latex gloves to airy gowns that seemed to float down the runway. The contrast of soft and edgy elements was striking. The final walk, featuring Naomi Campbell, was the perfect cherry on top, cementing Del Core as a rising star in Milan’s fashion scene.

Each designer brought something unique to the table, making this season one for the history books. If this is a preview of what’s to come in fashion, then we’re in for a thrilling ride.
