Every summer, I make sure these five signature summer outfits are in my wardrobe

This summer, I’m keeping it simple with five outfit formulas that work for every fashion girl. You just might want to steal them too.

Summer and its promises of adventure are here! While the destinations are thrilling, I’d argue that the fashion is even more captivating. As someone who cherishes every travel opportunity, I believe in maximising the experience, and that starts with meticulously curated summer outfits.

The secret to a truly relaxing summer getaway lies in preparation. Imagine effortlessly transitioning from sightseeing to sunset dinners, all while feeling perfectly put-together. This ease comes from having your beauty essentials and outfits expertly organised, freeing you to simply radiate confidence and soak in the good times.

To prepare for my upcoming escape, I embarked on a fruitful thrifting expedition, unearthing essential wardrobe staples alongside unique, stylish yet practical finds. Whether you’re planning your summer travels or simply seeking inspiration to elevate your everyday looks, this guide is crafted for you. The first outfit sets the tone for the trip, and comfort is key. I always start my trip in something cute that still looks put-together — especially if there’s a chance I’ll be going straight from the airport to exploring. High-waisted trousers and a fitted crop tee make up a good base that translates to any event or activity. It gives an effortless, cool look without sacrificing comfort.

To style this for the trip, I’ll throw on sneakers, pack a go-to roomy tote as a carry-on bag, a jacket (just in case I need one at any point), and sunglasses to complete the look. This outfit is versatile, and wearing the jean — instead of packing it helps keep my luggage a bit light too.

Matching co-ords & sandals

Perfect summer outfits for exploring all day

Co-ord sets are staples in your summer outfits. They’re breezy, versatile, and can be elevated or played down depending on the vibe. I’m obsessed with co-ords that do all the work. A lightweight cotton, silk, or linen set definitely belongs in my summer rotation. The good thing is, they can come with long pants, shorts, or even a skirt! Imagine the number of outfits you can create from having just a few in rotation? Let’s keep fashion sustainable!

I’ll most likely be styling this with flat or kitten-heeled sandals to keep it comfortable and chic.  A top-handle mini crossbody bag that holds just enough and can switch from day to night look, and of course, my sunglasses.

If you’re building summer outfits for travel, breathable fabrics like cotton or silk are your best friends; they keep you cool without compromising on style.

Crochet/knit summer outfits & sandals

Beach days are for lounging by the pool and tropical vibes

I love a slow day at the beach, where I can unwind, soak up the sun, and still look my best. From gorgeous swimsuits to crochet pieces, I like to feel stylish at the beach. I usually wear a loose shirt dress over my swimsuit, but I prefer an alluring crochet outfit — something light and still Instagram worthy.

The best thing about a pretty crochet outfit is that I can wear it for lunch or dinner  —  switch my flat sandals for heeled ones. I love a functional piece.

Slip dress & heels & accessories

Nights out on vacation call for something sexy

For nights when you want to dress up a bit more, this is the outfit for that. A bright-coloured midi or maxi slip dress that falls softly down your body is a classic look.

Heeled sandals or kitten heels instantly elevate the look — accessorise with a mini bag or statement jewellery. Keep your makeup light with emphasis on either the eyes or lips, and you’re ready for a fun summer night out.

Classic white shirt & mini skirt/shorts

Nothing beats a classic outfit combo

Towards the end of a trip, I’ll most likely be running on vibes alone, but that doesn’t mean my outfits will be less cosy and cute. A classic white shirt paired with a mini skirt or shorts, complemented by some gold hoops and sandals, keeps it low-effort yet stylish. The shirt is also multi-functional and can work as a cover-up at the beach or styled over a crop top. It pairs effortlessly with casual shorts and sneakers, or can be dressed up with a mini skirt and heeled sandals for a more elevated look.

Save these summer outfits for your next trip

The best thing about these summer outfits is that they can translate to your personal style. The formulas work no matter what you like. Simple, stylish, and they get the job done whether I’m lounging by the pool or enjoying a new city’s views.

Bonus tip: I never travel without a silk scarf or head wrap. It saves my edges on humid days, adds extra style, and just pulls everything together. When you’re curating summer outfits, it’s all about easy layers that can carry you from day to night.
