Danessa Myricks Beauty has officially launched in Nigeria, bringing innovative products and beauty secrets to the forefront at an exclusive dinner party.

The world is constantly changing and reshaping the way we interact with culture and beauty. These days, most beauty trends are born on TikTok. From blush blindness to lip peptide use, social media has become a go-to place to find what’s new.  However, what’s new doesn’t always mean good, and some products can be disastrous for our skin. This wasn’t the case when beauty enthusiasts started talking about the brand, Danessa Myricks, because unlike most trendy brands, it actually lives up to expectations.

“If you don’t know what this is, congratulations, your makeup is about to get 10 million x better,” Toni Bravo, a TikToker with over 800,000 followers, says in a video with over 2.9 million times. The star product of her video? The Danessa Myricks blurring balm — a product that has become an internet darling — co-signed by Love Island USA S7 breakout star, Olandria Carthen. Now, the balm is accessible to Nigerians, thanks to Beauty Hut.

The Beauty Hut Dinner: The art of oversharing beauty secrets

Danessa Myricks is a highly respected makeup artist, photographer, and entrepreneur who founded the eponymous makeup brand, Danessa Myricks Beauty.

The brand is renowned for its philosophy of “Beauty Without Boundaries” and focuses on creating innovative, multi-functional, and high-performance products for every skin tone, skill level, and style.

If you thought you knew beauty, you might want to take a seat. On 6 November, the highly anticipated arrival of Danessa Myricks Beauty — the brand that quite literally changed how we think about texture, finish, and inclusivity in makeup — went down in Lagos, and it was a memorable moment.

Hosted exclusively by Beauty Hut at Soho Lagos, Lekki, the event pulled in a curated squad of Nigeria’s most influential faces. This posse included Diana Eneje, Henrietta Itepu, and Hawa Magaji. While they initially came to toast and celebrate the latest beauty brand to connect with the Nigerian market, the night took a profound turn. They ended the night spilling the tea, trading their most sacred beauty secrets and naming the Danessa Myricks products they’ll be clutching onto for dear life.

The ambience? Chic, skin-informative, and undeniably authentic. The conversation quickly turned from small talk to the kind of insider tips you actually pay for.

The secrets of the skinfluencers

The evening proved that the new currency in Nigerian glam is skin, and the influencers are obsessed with making sure their canvas is right. The brand’s legendary blurring technology was the obvious star, with the Yummy Skin Blurring Balm getting repeated shout-outs. Chika Winnie championed the art of applying products in thin layers to achieve that skin-but-better look, crediting the blurring balm for the flawless finish. Not to be outdone, Kiky Festus reinforced the gospel of intensive skin prep, confirming the Yummy Skin Blurring Balm is essential for that perfect base.

Other hacks were purely strategic:

Henrietta Itepu, catering to her fellow combination skin warriors, dropped the unexpected truth: apply setting powder before your concealer. It’s a genius move for creaseless perfection. Onyeka Nwonah took layering to another level, admitting she piles on different sprays and follows a non-traditional product order: powder, foundation, then concealer. She also swears by the luminosity provided by the Glow Serum. Her biggest advice? Stop chasing perfection and focus on correcting what you have.

Furthermore, Omajay gave us a health-forward approach, swapping out traditional primer for sunscreen and highlighting the versatility of the Water Powder Serum. Meanwhile, Onome uses a pro trick: misting setting spray in between makeup steps. This ensures everything melts into a seamless, natural finish.

The contour crew also had their say. Diana Eneje uses a darker foundation for sculpting, and Denise Eseimokumoh, our Editor-in-Chief, achieves sculpted, high cheekbones by employing blush as a contour. For an overall warm glow, Frances Theodore simply decreed: bronzer everywhere.

For the long-term game? Hawa Magaji shared the ultimate truth bomb: spend your money on skincare so you have the freedom to skip makeup whenever you please. Also, away from skin, Jai insists on everyone using lip stains.
