Day 4 of Lagos Fashion Week 2024 showcased a gorgeous array of collections that celebrated the mix of traditional and modern clothing styles and body positivity. Designers took inspiration from oceanic themes, presenting vibrant palettes that evoked the essence of underwater living. Others were influenced by street wear which added a bolder edge to the runway.
The runway also highlighted inclusivity, featuring a range of plus-size models who embodied confidence and grace. Traditional patterns and techniques like adire were beautifully integrated into modern designs, creating a harmonious blend of heritage and contemporary style.
A body size diversity showcase by Desiree Iyamah
Inspired by shellfish, Spanish beaches, and the mysteries of the ocean. This collection transported the girls to a tropical vacation. Dresses floated down the runway like ocean currents, fabrics moving gracefully reminding one of underwater life. The collection’s colour palette—pastel colours, red, blue and orange —reflected the calmness of coastal scenery. Mesh two-piece outfits, perfect for beach days, and dresses adorned with shell motifs added charm. Iyamah’s ability to merge fluidity with structure made each piece feel like it belonged on the beach and at an elegant soirée.
Movement and streetwear at Cute Saint
This collection delivered bold, sleek, statement streetwear. Graphic crop tops, bomber jackets, and tailored trousers set the tone for an effortlessly cool vibe. Crochet elements added a handcrafted feel, while fringe halter tops injected playful movement into the looks. And move they did, as the models shimmied onto the runway to the backdrop of 90s hip-hop music. It showcased a collection perfect for girls who want to have fun without looking like they put in too much effort. Bright colours and strong silhouettes defined the collection, making each outfit striking yet wearable.
Making traditional patterns contemporary at Orire

Mystical inspiration at Kilentar
Kilentar’s Out of this World collection embraced the spiritual symbolism of water. Drawing from the mythology of Mami Wata, the pieces celebrated fluidity, movement, and culture. Flowing silhouettes, including fringe skirts and dresses, mirrored the rhythmic dance of water. The use of adire also added a traditional element. While the neutral and bold colour palette represented both serenity and chaos. Kilentar’s designs blended modern and historical references, creating a collection that honoured cultural roots while remaining contemporary.
