7 standout brands from New York Fashion Week so far!

A month-long spectacle of fashion shows has kicked off with New York Fashion Week, and it started with a bang. Ralph Lauren and Proenza Schouler opened the 2025 Spring collection event with impressive collections presented in Soho and the Hamptons, respectively. The runway saw a blend of festive fringe, smart shirting, and equestrian chic, setting the tone for an exciting week ahead. But these brands are not the only ones that have shown up and shown out.

Presented in the Hamptons, the collection exuded the spirit of American glamour. With a fresh take on the house’s classic elements, the collection showcased elegant evening wear, rich metallics, floral embroidery, and sleek tailoring. Models walked the runway in shimmering gold gowns, sharp blazers, and silk trousers, combining high glamour with an all-American spirit. The collection also featured fringe-trimmed dresses and crochet knitwear, bringing bohemian sophistication into the spotlight.

The spring collection, designed by Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, took a refreshing approach to nautical dressing. It featured Breton stripes, sleek lines, origami-like folds, and fringe that swayed like palm trees, combining key trend elements without feeling too literal.

Held at Marble Cemetery in the East Village, Collina Strada’s Spring/Summer 2025 show offered a colourful, climate-conscious escape from the outside world. Creative director Hillary Taymour drew inspiration from the “touch grass” meme,  reflecting a desire to reconnect and find peace amidst a chaotic world.

The collection focused on sculptural clothing, with palazzo pants and extreme textures, such as a white fur spiral coat knitted from silk. It was presented at the Guggenheim Museum, and reflected simplicity and movement, with a nod to American pioneers like Halston and Claire McCardell.

Tommy Hilfiger

Hilfiger brought New York City’s landmarks to life on a decommissioned Staten Island ferry. The Spring 2025 collection, inspired by nautical and all-American themes, featured stripes, varsity jackets, and oversized knits, accompanied by a surprise performance from Wu-Tang Clan members.

Off-White

Making its highly anticipated debut at New York Fashion Week, Off-White transformed the Brooklyn Bridge Park into a basketball court for a spectacular show. Designer Ib Kamara explored themes of America and Africa through sportswear, incorporating vivid motifs, dramatic silhouettes, and a diverse range of styles.

Grace Ling

A CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund finalist, Ling impressed with her innovative use of 3D technology to create sculptural forms in her Spring/Summer 2025 collection. Her designs fused sensuality with surrealism, using neutral tones and unexpected materials like 3D-printed metal to redefine femininity as a powerful force.

We eagerly anticipate more from American icons such as Carolina Herrera, Tory Burch, and Michael Kors, as well as fresh talents like LaQuan Smith, Luar, and Willy Chavarria. New York Fashion Week continues to blend tradition with innovation and reinforce its status as a key event on the global fashion calendar.
