Tyla is the first African to host the 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards

The Grammy-winning singer is breaking boundaries and bringing her signature flair and star power to the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

South African sensation Tyla is set to make history as the first African artist to host the 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards (KCAs). Known as the “Queen of Popiano,” Tyla will take centre stage for the first time as host of the beloved annual event, airing live on June 21 from the iconic Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.

As always, the KCAs promise a star-studded celebration across music, film, sports, social media, gaming, podcasts, and television. Besides  her groundbreaking role, the Grammy-winning singer, Tyla, earned two nominations this year: Favourite Global Music Star, representing Africa, and Favourite Music Collaboration for her hit track “Show Me Love” with WizTheMc and Bees & Honey.

The nominees

The 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards is shaping up to be an exciting experience this year, with a star-studded lineup of nominees. Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, and Kendrick Lamar are among the top contenders, each boasting four nominations.

Meanwhile, newcomers like Cynthia Erivo, Gracie Abrams, and Zach Bryan are making their mark. Alongside them are notable figures such as Jordan Chiles, Shohei Ohtani, and Florence Pugh.

Tyla is thrilled about hosting

In a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), Tyla expressed her excitement about hosting the Kids’ Choice Awards. Her appointment has also generated significant excitement on social media. Her fans, the tygers, are eagerly anticipating her historic role as the first African artist to take the stage.
