The anniversary bomb

Faiza, a 24-year-old Nurse, discovered her partner’s infidelity after dating for 6 months. He shared a post celebrating his 2-year relationship anniversary, but blocked her from seeing it — forgetting her friend still could. The truth was out, and Faiza chose not to confront him, instead opting for a clean break. “I just told him I knew about the other babe and told him never to reach out to me again,” she recalls. Looking back, Faiza says, “I don’t regret it at all, I just pity his new partner because the other babe broke up with him too.”
When infidelity leaves lasting scars

For Z, discovering her partner’s cheating was just the beginning of a painful ordeal. “I found out on their phone,” she reveals, “and I’ve always found out about them cheating on me through their phone.”
Despite apologies and promises to change, the cycle of cheating and gaslighting continued. “They went on to cheat with other people, go on dates, keep their options open… while holding me to standards they don’t hold themselves to,” Z recounts.
The aftermath? A deep-seated wariness and regret. “I regret getting into the relationship at all… I never want anything to do with another person.”
A one-night stand gone wrong

Mide’s story is one of painful awakening. On her second anniversary with her partner, a mysterious text from a woman threw her world off balance. “I was getting very disturbing calls from a private number,” she recalls, “and then this woman texted me, talking about needing my catering services.” A quick internet search revealed the woman’s identity. When confronted, she admitted that Mide’s partner had a one-night stand with her—and now, she wasn’t letting go.
Mide also confronted her partner with undeniable proof, and he admitted to the infidelity. “He begged and apologised that it was a one-time thing, but I was done,” she says firmly. The aftermath was a struggle to reclaim her sense of self. “I questioned my actions, my worth… Didn’t I love or care enough? Was I not pretty enough?” she admits.
Four years later, Mide is still healing, but she’s found a new sense of purpose. “I’m in a better place. I’m happy and enjoying being single,” she affirms. She’s learning to prioritise her happiness and peace. “I’m focusing on myself, and that’s the best decision I’ve ever made.”

Despite the betrayal, Esther chose to stay in the marriage for the sake of her children. “I’m doing it for them, not him,” she emphasises. However, dealing with the baby mama’s constant drama has become challenging. “She’s always calling and showing up unannounced,” Esther says, frustratedly. “It’s like she’s trying to make my life hell.”
For now, Esther focuses on protecting her children and finding a way to coexist with her husband’s baby mama. “I’ll do what it takes for my kids,” she affirms.
