Dabana explains that “the food we eat is broken down into nutrients and those nutrients build up the outer layer of your body— your hair and skin.” Think of your gut as the control centre. According to Dermatology Times, your skin glows when your gut gets a diet rich in whole foods, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. “But when you’re loading up on sugar, highly processed foods, refined carbohydrates and junk food, it can trigger inflammation and lead to breakouts, redness, and other skin woes,” she adds.

So, what should you actually eat for amazing skin? Think of it like this: Vitamin C is your skin’s best friend. Load up on oranges, berries, and spinach—they’re like a shield against damage and help keep your skin firm and youthful. And don’t forget the healthy fats. Biotin (the builder): Think of biotin as the bricks that make up your hair. It’s super important for growth and keeping your hair healthy. You can find it in foods like eggs, nuts (almonds, walnuts), and whole grains.

Vitamin E (the protector): This protects your hair from damage and oxidative stress. It’s found in nuts and leafy greens.

Iron (the fuel): Iron is the fuel that keeps your hair growing strong. Your hair might become thin or fall out if you don’t have enough. You can find it in red meat, spinach, dark chocolate and fortified cereals.

Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to help flush out toxins and keep your skin and hair hydrated.
