Adaeze Onah-Onubogu’s artsy fashion favourites

Wearable art meets indulgent taste. Adaeze Onah-Onubogu, the creative behind DAEZ, shares the artsy luxury pieces she’s been dreaming of.

When I shared my luxury wishlist as a fashion editor, I knew it wouldn’t be the last edition. There’s something satisfying about seeing what lives in someone else’s dream cart, especially when that person has an eye for great design. For the second edition of Luxury Wishlist, we’re spotlighting the fashion favourites of Adaeze Onah-Onubogu — a multifaceted creative and the visionary behind DAEZ, a Nigerian brand that transforms traditional silhouettes into wearable art.

Adaeze’s style is intentional, expressive, and rooted in storytelling. Her wishlist includes details of global luxury, local craftsmanship, quirky structure, and personal nostalgia with future-forward taste. From sculptural Schiaparelli to a beloved Lisa Folawiyo dress that’s two years overdue, Adaeze’s picks reveal a woman who knows exactly what her style is — and isn’t afraid to show it.

Here are Adaeze Onah-Onubogu’s artsy fashion favourites

If there’s one piece that could double as a museum artefact, it’s this one. Adaeze calls it “a show-stopper”, something she’d wear with tailored suits, dramatic dresses or even denim. “I don’t need to do too much with it,” she says. “The bag does all the talking.” I agree!

“To know me is to know I love statement pieces,” Adaeze says, and this iconic pair of LOEWE balloon heels has been at the top of her fashion favourites for years. The only issue? It keeps selling out in her size. “I’ve engaged so many personal shoppers, but no luck,” she says. “At this point, I may never get my hands on them.”

A wishlist isn’t complete without a little creative self-love. As the founder of DAEZ, Adaeze already owns the mini Oak bag, but she has her eyes on the midi version for summer. “The DAEZ Oak collection is what summer dreams are made of,” she says. “That rich brown will tie beautifully into all my Eki Kere and Andrea Iyamah fits. If you know, you know.” She could just take it from her stock, but we all know that’s not how business works. Our eyes are on you Ada, make the payment.

Adaeze loves mini bags, and this Chanel vanity case in pastel yellow is her current obsession. “I know you might think the colour is tricky,” she says, “but pastel yellow, especially butter yellow, is about to be everywhere.” She’s right: it’s forecasted as one of Spring/Summer 2025’s top shades. “It gives It Girl energy but still feels personal,” she adds.

She also believes it’s a versatile, stylish colour. “It’ll pair perfectly with everything in my wardrobe, and I might just join the vanity case club this one time.”

Lisa Folawiyo ‘Flight of Fancy’ dress

$2000 – $2500

Most dresses don’t last long on Adaeze’s wishlist. “I either buy them or fall out of love quickly.” But the Flight of Fancy dress by Lisa Folawiyo has held space in her heart for two years. “I’ve just never found the right moment,” she says. “Never saw the right occasion, but I need a dress for my #30again birthday celebration, and this might just be it.”

YSL Orhand peep-toe sandals (in burgundy or brown)

$1300 – $1500

The latest addition to Ada’s wishlist is these elegant YSL sandals. “They’re classy, old-money and artsy all at the same time,” she says. “I already know they’ll match beautifully with my dresses. I can’t wait to get them!”

Adaeze Onah-Onubogu’s fashion favourites are as thoughtful as they are dramatic. It’s proof that personal style will always be the best form of expression in fashion.
